While artists in this exhibit are well established, each is still at the beginning their artistic career.

Organized by Amy Vigilante, Director, University Galleries, University of Florida with Robert Feldman. This exhibition is made possible by the generosity of the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation.

ARNOLD MESCHES: Coming Attractions
October 18 - November 30, 2007
Opening reception: October 18 at 10:00am, informal gallery talk by Mesches at 11:30am

Throughout his 60-year career Mesches has woven many narratives into lush and virtuosic paintings—and in this series, Coming Attractions, Mesches affirms that he is as potent a painter and storyteller as ever. Here, large canvases of cinema and theater interiors crate stage set tableaus that demand the viewer's complicity in the enigmatic action. At times haunting, absurd and poignant, the emotional veracity of Mesches's paintings is inescapable.
